Bathroom & Kitchen Remodeling FAQ | North Jersey

1. How much does a bathroom or kitchen remodel cost in North Jersey?

Bathrooms run $8,900 for a tub-to-shower conversion up to $24,900+ for a primary bath. Kitchens: $24,000–$38,000 for a cabinet and counter refresh, $42,000–$68,000 for a full gut in the same footprint, $70,000+ when walls come down or plumbing moves. Full breakdowns on our bathroom and kitchen pricing pages.

2. What's included in your price — and what isn't?

Labor, construction materials and permits are included. Finish materials — tile, vanity, fixtures, glass, cabinets, countertops, appliances — you buy directly, so there's no markup and you control that part of the budget. Most homeowners spend $3,000–$7,000 on bathroom finishes. We tell you exactly what to buy and when it has to arrive.

3. What towns do you work in?

Bergen, Passaic, Morris and Essex County — Wayne, Ridgewood, Wyckoff, Paramus, Franklin Lakes, Clifton, Fair Lawn, Midland Park, Pompton Lakes, Hawthorne, Parsippany and surrounding towns. We're based in North Haledon. Not sure if you're in range? Call and ask.

4. How long will my project take?

Bathrooms: 7–9 days for a tub-to-shower conversion, 3–4 weeks for a guest bath, 4–6 weeks for a full gut, 5–7 weeks for a primary bath. Kitchens: 3–4 weeks for a refresh, 5–8 weeks for a full gut, 8–12 weeks with a layout change. Your completion date is in the contract.

5. How do payments work?

50% when you accept the estimate — that holds your slot and covers permits and materials we order up front. 25% at rough construction and inspections, 25% at substantial completion. New Jersey also gives you three business days to cancel after signing.

6. Do I need a permit, and who handles it?

Almost certainly yes — anything touching plumbing, electrical or structure requires one in New Jersey. We pull the permits and meet the inspectors, and it's included in your price. If a contractor offers to skip the permit, keep looking.

7. What happens if you open a wall and find a problem?

Rot, old galvanized plumbing, bad wiring — it happens. You get it in writing within 24 hours with a description and a price, before we touch it. Nothing gets added to your bill without your signature. No verbal change orders.

8. Can I live in the house while you work?

Yes, and most clients do. We seal off the work area, protect the floors on the path in and out, and haul debris out every evening. On kitchens we set up a temporary spot for your fridge, microwave and coffee maker before demo. You get a photo update every night.

9. Do you offer financing?

Yes — we're partnered with Acorn Finance. You check your rate online in a couple of minutes, it's a soft credit pull so it doesn't affect your score, and you see your actual terms before committing to anything. Bathroom projects can start as low as $199/month on approved credit.

10. Are you licensed and insured, and do you offer a warranty?

Yes. We're a registered New Jersey Home Improvement Contractor, license #13VH12803500 — verify it through the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs. We're bonded and insured, and every project carries a 5-year workmanship warranty. If something we installed fails because of how we installed it, we come back and fix it. Defective products go through the manufacturer, and we'll help you file.
